Our last couple of weeks at the lake!

The last couple of weeks have been busy.  Papa Jerry and Grandma Susie came for a visit.  We picked strawberries at Mystic Farms and raspberries at Aunt Lori's.  We had a lot of really nice weather and a lot of fun in the water.  We watched the caterpillar that we found at the farm with Ethan and Gr. Bud make his cocoon and turn into a butterfly yesterday.

Back to work (sort of!)

Today was back to work after the holiday. Jon's phone was ringing once again and we started a few projects here at the lake.  The electric company was here to upgrade our power, the girls enjoyed seeing those big truck pull into the yard.  I got busy with sanding down cabinets and getting the first coat of stain on them.  We managed to enjoy our afternoon at the lake.  The girls were sliding off the end of the dock and having a great time.  We finished the evening with a trip around the lake while Jon skiied.  Just about bedtime Jon and Addison decided to do a little fishing and came back with a nice fish, Addie is becoming quite the fisherman!

Sunshine, skiing and icecream!

We had another great day at the lake.  Jon and Rochelle did some more skiing.  The kids played in the water all day.  Jon fried up a turkey for dinner and we had more pie and icecream after.  The neighbor landed his plane on the lake and Jon is thinking this would be a good mode of transportation back and forth to ND.

A Great Day at the Lake

Saturday was a great day at the lake, sunshine all day.  We spent the day in the water, on the beach and in the boat.  Jon and Rochelle got a few trips around the lake on skies then we got the tube out for the kids, including a trip for Jon!  Grammy Pam made homemade strawberry pies (with homegrown strawberries) and smores later in the evening.
I put my towel down on the dock for a little sun while the kids were down for a nap, while I went to get my book and a drink Gunner decided my towel looked like a great idea.  The life of a dog!

An unexpected visitor to our beach, a large snapper turtle snuck up and was sitting right behind Grammy Pam.  He didn't want to leave but we finally got him off the beach!

Sunshine!

Yesterday the sun came out after 2 days of rain.  We were so happy to be outside.  We had a fantastic day - no clouds, no wind and LOTS of sunshine!  The girls did a little fishing with dad, took a canoe ride.  We had our dinner by the bonfire and smores afterwards!  All-in-all a great day and the way summer should be at the lake.  We are getting ready for the 4th of July and for the family to be here.
Addie getting the hang of fishing off the dock, she is a bit impatient though!  Gunner never left her side while she is on the dock, what a good boy!

Week 2 - Minnesota

We 2 started at the lake.  Jason, Terry, Kadence, Cale and Ian stayed for an extra couple of days after the party.  On Tuesday we all headed to Fargo to visit Papa Jim and Grandma Lisa for a few days.  The kids got to go swimming.  Wednesday evening Addie went with Papa and Grandma to Disney's Aladdin at the Community Center.  They had a great time.  Yesterday we came back to the lake to sunshine.  The girls spent a lot of time swinging, their new favorite thing.  We were joined by a pair of loons and their babies.  They hung out with us right off the dock for quite a while.  Today we are getting some chores done and waiting for Grandma Pam and Papa Mike to arrive this evening!

mmmm, smores!

Week 1 in Minnesota

We arrived in Minnesota to rain, clouds and wind. Not the ideal way to begin our summer at the cabin but we had a great week. We were able to get settled before everyone arrived for Bud & Laurene's 60th Wedding Anniversary. All the family was here to celebrate.
Well worth the 3 day drive!

Getting ready for the party!
